E3 and LightBurn Compatibility Notice

Important: The E3 is supplied with EDONE, its dedicated original software. EDONE provides access to the E3's full hardware capabilities. LightBurn is a third-party laser software option that supports selected basic marking functions only. Some E3 hardware functions and advanced features are not available when using LightBurn.

Functions Available in LightBurn

LightBurn can be used for the following functions:

  • Importing and editing vector graphics and bitmap images
  • Marking on flat material surfaces
  • Grayscale-image relief engraving through multi-pass layered engraving, without dynamic Z-axis following
  • Manually configuring rotary attachments, chuck rotary attachments, conveyor accessories, and related parameters
  • Setting basic marking parameters, including frequency, pulse width, speed, and line interval
  • Starting and stopping marking jobs

For improved compatibility with the E3, we recommend using the LightBurn Pro version with Galvo support. Standard versions may not support Galvo devices.

Functions Not Available in LightBurn

The following functions are not available when using LightBurn:

  • Automatic focus. The E3 automatic-focus function is unavailable in LightBurn. Users must adjust the Z-axis manually and confirm the working height through test marking.
  • 3D crystal inner engraving. 3D crystal inner engraving requires software to output a three-dimensional X/Y/Z point matrix. LightBurn does not support Galvo 3D point-matrix output and cannot perform stereoscopic engraving inside crystal.
  • Curved-surface engraving. Curved-surface processing requires real-time Z-axis compensation as the working height changes. LightBurn cannot access the E3 dynamic Z-axis capability required for this workflow.
  • E3-specific functions. E3 material libraries, original optimized parameter templates, hardware-status monitoring, and other device-specific functions are available through EDONE.

Important Notes When Using LightBurn

  • LightBurn is a third-party software product and is not the original software supplied with the E3.
  • For improved compatibility, use the LightBurn Pro version with Galvo support. Older or unofficial versions may result in connection issues, data loss, parameter errors, or processing errors.
  • When using LightBurn, manually check the focus whenever the material thickness changes. Incorrect focus may result in unclear marking, failed marking, or damage to the workpiece.
  • Grayscale relief engraving supports only grayscale-image-based 2.5D layered engraving. STL 3D model files cannot be read directly, engraving depth is limited, and dynamic Z-axis compensation is not supported.
  • If processing, parameter, or function errors occur, please switch back to EDONE for testing and confirmation.
  • For issues related to third-party software, XLaserLab provides hardware-level support only and does not provide LightBurn software operation or debugging services.

Recommendation

For the complete E3 experience, including automatic focus, 3D crystal inner engraving, curved-surface processing, and E3-specific optimized functions, please download and use EDONE from the official E3 website.

For standard flat-surface marking, LightBurn Pro may be used with the limitations described above.
