Whether shielding gas is needed depends on the working mode:
Pen mode (pulse spot welding): No shielding gas is required.
Torch welding mode: Shielding gas is required for welding.
Cleaning mode: No shielding gas is needed for rust removal and surface cleaning.
Most people to get started within 10 minutes using the presets. Pick your material and thickness, and the machine sets power, frequency and wire feed for you.
Most metals are fair game—stainless steel, aluminum, carbon steel, titanium, nickel alloy, copper, galvanized sheet, and magnesium. Ideal working thickness: 0.2mm to 2.5mm.
